東北大学創薬戦略推進機構をコントロール機能として、本学の「先端研究開発力」を集結し、成果創出を指向した「企業共創型創薬」へ挑戦します。

We will utilize the Drug Discovery Strategy Promotion Organization as a control function to consolidate Tohoku University's 'advanced research and development capabilities' and challenge the creation of 'industry co-creation-based drug discovery' aimed at generating results.

東北大学「創薬戦略推進機構」は、本学の強みを生かし、基礎研究から臨床試験、並びに多様な出口戦略まで一気通貫の企業と共創していく研究開発環境を形成し、そこから生み出される成果をパートナー企業と共に社会へ実装していくことを目指しています。
ご存知のように、本学では、90万人の臨床データを保有する臨床研究中核病院である大学病院をはじめ、我が国最大規模の橋渡し研究拠点である大学病院臨床研究推進センター、東北メディカル･メガバンク機構、未来型医療創成センター、医学系研究科、歯学研究科、薬学研究科、加齢医学研究所、医薬品研究開発センター、スマートエイジング学際重点研究センター、など、星陵キャンパスや青葉山キャンパスを中心に、ライフサイエンス分野の「知」の価値創造に貢献する主要な研究機能が集約されています。
そこで、更なる戦略的取組みとして、医薬品をはじめとするヘルスケアの基礎研究･臨床開発から事業化までの本学の有するバリューチェーンを統合し､「実学尊重」を理念に掲げる東北大学でしか成しえない一気通貫の強力な事業推進体制として、2023年12月に「創薬戦略推進機構」を設置し、活動をスタート致しました。
本機構での共創活動を通じて、皆様と共に、革新的な医薬品等の社会的インパクトの大きいイノベーションの創出を加速推進して参ります。

Greeting from the Director of the Organization

The Drug Discovery Strategy Promotion Organization at Tohoku University aims to leverage the university's strengths to create a research and development environment in collaboration with industry partners. This environment spans from basic research and clinical trials to various exit strategies, with the goal of implementing the results generated into society alongside partner companies.

As you may know, Tohoku University hosts a range of significant research functions, including our university hospital, a core institution for clinical research with a dataset of 900,000 clinical cases, the Clinical Research Promotion Center at the university hospital, the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization, the Center for the Creation of Future Medical Technologies, the Graduate School of Medicine, the Graduate School of Dentistry, the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, the Pharmaceutical Research and Development Center, the Smart Aging Research Center, and more. These major research functions, concentrated around the Seiryo and Aobayama campuses, contribute to the creation of "knowledge" in the life sciences field.

Building on these strengths, we have further developed a strategic initiative by integrating the university's value chain in healthcare, including drug discovery, basic research, clinical development, and commercialization. In line with our philosophy of "respect for practical learning," Tohoku University is uniquely positioned to establish a robust, seamless business promotion system. This culminated in the launch of the Drug Discovery Strategy Promotion Organization in December 2023.

Through collaborative activities within this organization, we aim to accelerate the creation of innovations with significant social impact, such as innovative pharmaceuticals, in partnership with all of you.
